Thank you for considering fostering for Love4Dogs Rescue. Foster homes are a vital part of our rescue work and allow us to help more dogs and cats find their forever families.
Fostering can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also come with challenges. Many of the animals we rescue have never lived in a home before, so they may need patience, guidance and time to adjust to their new environment.
By opening your home, even temporarily, you are giving a dog or cat the chance to experience safety, love and stability. Some animals may stay only a few days, while others may need a few weeks or longer depending on their needs.
Foster homes allow us to assess each animal in a home environment so we can find the most suitable forever home for them.
You will not be alone while fostering. We provide ongoing support and guidance throughout.
• Access to our dedicated foster group chat
• Help and advice from our rescue team
• Veterinary care covered by the rescue (for approved visits)
If you would like to become a foster carer:
If you rent your home, you must have permission from your landlord to foster.
• Provide food, bedding and toys while the animal is in your care
• Keep us updated with photos and progress reports
• Help with basic training where needed (such as toilet training or lead training for dogs)
• Inform us immediately if any health concerns arise
• Be comfortable administering medication if required
• Be able to communicate with us via Facebook Messenger
Photos and updates are extremely important, as they help us advertise the animals and find them the best possible homes.
For safety and legal reasons, newly arrived foster dogs must not leave the house for the first 48 hours after arrival, even for walks.
Time and patience
Many of our animals need time to settle and learn how to live comfortably in a home environment.
Animal experience
Experience with dogs, cats, or other animals is very helpful as some animals may need extra guidance or support.
Suitable home environment
Some animals may require homes without children or other pets depending on their individual needs.
Fostering saves lives. Every foster home allows us to bring another animal to safety and gives them the opportunity to prepare for their forever home.
If you think you could open your home to a dog or cat in need, we would love to hear from you.
